The junior coalition Liberal Party (PL) has said it would vote for the law on equality of chances provided that the parliament passes the law on chemical castration of pedophiles. The Liberals made this statement at the end of a meeting of the party's republican council on 20 May.

PL leader Mihai Ghimpu said that the Liberal MPs would vote for the law on equality of chances only after the law on chemical castration of pedophiles is re-examined and the law on the reform of the Centre for Economic Crimes and Corruption is passed.

The leader of the Democratic Party, Marian Lupu, told a TV channel that his party had agreed with the Liberals to vote these laws at a parliamentary meeting.

The leader of the parliamentary faction of the Liberal Democratic Party, Valeriu Strelet, said that these laws might be voted all together.

The draft law on equality of chances is a version of the disputed anti-discrimination law, on which the EU is said to be insisting in the talks with Moldova on an association agreement.
