On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Moldova and Israel, the international conference Limmud has been held in Chisinau for the first time. The event brought together about 400 Jewish young men and women from Russia, Ukraine and Moldova. The program of the educational forum included concerts, trainings and excursions.
Itana Zilbermint, Chair of the organizing committee, said at its final event that Limmud is held for 30 yeas already, and was organized everywhere – from Australia till Alaska. Since 2006, it has debuted in the Commonwealth of Independent States member countries, and it was held in Moldova for the first time this year.
Vladimir Filat, Prime Minister of Moldova, who attended the event, noted the importance of the Moldo-Israeli relationship strengthening.
“I appreciate the fact that Moldova became a part of this educational project held in diverse countries. I hope that it is only the beginning that will promote a further friendship strengthening between the peoples and countries”, Filat said.
On the closing day of the Limmud conference, each of its participants could optionally take a part in special theme workshops. It is related to the fine Jewish philosophy, culture of the political polemics, Jewish cuisine and even yoga. They were held in Russian and were organized by volunteers.
