Release of first trolleybus assembled in Moldova postponed indefinitely
Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca’s promise to release the first Belarus trolleybus assembled in Moldova by late June has not been fulfilled.
Gheorghe Morgoci, a representative of the municipal company Regia Transport Electric [Electric Transport Department], explained that this was caused by the problems occurred on the Belarus railways, which led to a delay in the delivery of constituent parts.
„In the days to come the component parts shall be delivered to Moldova and the assembling of the trolleybuses will continue. Yet, we cannot predict when the residents of the city will see the first trolleybuses assembled in Moldova,” he said.
According to Morgoci, about 10 million lei was earmarked from the city hall’s budget for the construction of five trolleybuses.
Infotag’s dossier: There are 24 trolleybus routes in Chisinau, 3 trolleybus parks and 360 trolleybuses, of which 102 were bough in Belarus in 2011. Ninety trolleybuses must be replaced, as their service limit expired.
