Two National Army servicemen participate in multinational peacekeeping exercises "Sea Breeze 2012" as headquarters officers. The drills, organized within the "Partnership for Peace Programme," are held in Ukraine on 9-21 July.
A representative of the National Army's Headquarters, colonel Oleg Ciulcov, who takes part in the exercises, has said that the drills are aimed at improving the inter-operability of multinational troops in peacekeeping operations. "In line with the scenario of the exercise, military from different countries will be involved in peacekeeping operations, anti-terroristic activities, amphibious operations, etc," Ciulcov said.
The headquarters involved in the exercise is acting in Odessa, while most military drills will take place on the sea.
About 500 servicemen from Ukraine, the USA, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Greece, Denmark, Georgia, Moldova, Germany, Turkey, Poland, etc. participate in the "Sea Breeze 2012" exercises.
"Sea Breeze 2012" is a multinational peacekeeping exercise in the spirit of the "Partnership for Peace," and the National Army has been participating in these drills starting from 2007. In 2011, the Moldovan Army sent a 60-strong contingent to these exercises.
