Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Carpov met Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Alexandra Yuster today, according to the bureau for reintegration. The officials discussed the latest evolutions in the process of talks on the Transnistrian problem settlement, as well as the activity of the working groups in different sectors. Carpov and Yuster analyzed ways of cooperation in terms of strengthening the confidence between the two banks of the Dniestre and the important role of the international organizations in this respect. A special subject of the meeting was the situation regarding the human rights on the left bank of the Dniestre, with particular emphasis put on the observance of the human rights in the region. In this context, the officials paid increased attention to issues of recognizing education documents, situation faced by the Latin-script schools from the Transnistrian region and actions due to be undertaken to normalize the conditions of their work. At the same time, the sides discussed topics the juvenile delinquency, children's immunization and health services for young people. Alexandra Yuster informed about programmes and projects implemented by the UNICEF on the left bank of the Dniestre, their results, as well as obstacles on the carrying out of some initiatives. The UNICEF representative showed content with the development of the reforms in the field of children's rights on the right bank of the Dniestre and stressed the need to extend them on the left banks as well. At the end of the meeting, Eugen Carpov reiterated Moldova's willingness to further take sustained efforts to ensure the children's rights in the Transnistrian region, and thanked for the support the UNICEF is providing to the government to this end.
