A man in his 30s was shot yesterday, July 20, in a cornfield in Teleseu village, Orhei district. It is suspected that he was shot by poachers.
Orhei district commissary Ion Chicu told Info-Prim Neo that the man went into the woods with a neighbor to gather firewood. After gathering some dry wood, they went into the corn field to get some cobs. Meanwhile, someone opened fire and injured the man’s feet.
Policemen believe that the shots came from poachers who were trying to ambush wild boars, which roam around the region. The commissary mentioned that the items found at the scene prove that the shooter was not alone. The perpetrator, however, has not yet been found. The neighbor, who was with the victim, did not see anyone, because it was dark.
The man died on his way to the hospital, due to excessive blood loss. He was a resident of Teleseu, father of two children.
