The number of Transnistrian residents stood at 511.3 thousand people in early June, by 2.1 thousand less than against the beginning of the year and by 4.3 people less against the same period of 2011.
According to the region’s ministry of economy, the population decreased by 1,384 people in the first six months. The number of deceased people stood at 3,816, whereas the number of new-born – at 2,432.
Among the main death causes are: coronary artery diseases – 1,285 cases (+9.5%), tumors – 646 cases (+7.1%) and vascular brain impairments – 565 (+3.3%).
The infant mortality rates stood at 21 people, the majority of cases occurring in the perinatal period – 7 casualties, congenital anomalies – 7 cases, intoxication and traumas – 3 cases.
The migration balance shrunk by 22.4%, to 736 people (taking into account the internal and foreign migration). As many as 979 people came to the region in the first half-year and 1,904 people left from Transnistria.
As many as 1,357 marriages were registered by the local registry’s offices. The number of divorces grew by 4.8%, reaching 982.
