Museum of Ethnography and Natural History

Founded in 1889, the Museum of Ethnography and Natural History is the oldest museum in Moldova.It hosts 135000 pieces with a great scientific and patrimonial value. Most of them were exposed in different countries of the Europe, America, Asia and Africa. Here is kept the most representative collection of Moldavian carpets ( 18th-20th centuries).
The main exhibition of the museum "Nature, Man, Culture" exposes a small part of the patrimony. It proposes an incursion in historical relations between man and nature, making relevant different complex processes, that have a great importance for comprehension of the role of man in the Universe.
There is a room in which are organized temporary exhibitions both from own funds and from other museums. In the next years there will be presented collections of exotic birds and animals, handicraft articles, recent acquisitions, new collections, etc.
